Introducing Enhanced Login Security

Online Security - Everyday, Everywhere

Your online security has always been a critical priority for us. We have upgraded our online banking service with a new security feature to further protect you from identity theft.

"Enhanced Login Security" is a free and easy way to help prevent fraud. Sign up from your computer, set up your "challenge questions" and you're all set. It's that simple - the next time you login, it's business as usual. The rest of your online banking experience will remain exactly the same.

It identifies you as the true "owner" of your accounts by recognizing not only your password but your computer as well. If we don't recognize your computer for example if you've logged in from a public computer or one you haven't used before, we'll ask you challenge questions as an additional defense to prevent unauthorized access. With Enhanced Login Security, you'll be protected on whatever computer you're using, whether you're at home or on the go.

If you have additional questions or need assistance signing up for this free service, please call our Home Banking Department at 410-546-1101.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you identify my computer?

Enhanced Login Security is superior security technology that further protects your accounts from unauthorized access. It is a secure piece of data that is stored in a cookie. The data is encrypted, and no identifiable customer information is stored in it.

How will Enhanced Login Security affect me?

This new security feature enables us to identify you by recognizing the computer you use for online banking. You will enroll by signing up once at your computer. After selecting and answering the challenge questions, you're all set. It's that simple. The next time you log on to Home Banking, it's business as usual.

What if I want to log on to Home Banking from another computer?

If Enhanced Login Security does not recognize your computer because you've logged on at another computer (a computer at work, another computer at home or at a friend's, for example), we'll ask you your challenge questions to verify your identity and ask if you want to enroll that computer. With Enhanced Login Security you'll be protected regardless of which computer you're using, whether you're at home or on the go. We strongly recommend that you do not enroll public computers (computers at a library, coffee shop, Internet café, etc.).

Do I have to enroll a public computer or a computer that I don't use on a regular basis?

You do not have to enroll the computer you are temporarily using, but you will need to answer your challenge questions when presented in order to gain access to your online banking account. In fact, we strongly recommend that you do not enroll any public computer (computers at a library, coffee shop, Internet café, etc.).

Can I choose my own challenge question?

You will be able to choose your challenge questions from a list of options. You will not be able to create your own challenge questions.

Will my answer to my challenge questions be case sensitive? Will it recognize the answer if it is close?

The answers to your challenge questions are case sensitive, they will need to be entered exactly as you originally typed them. For example, if you chose the question, "What is the name of the street you grew up on?" and you answered "anywhere street." The next time you were prompted to answer the question you couldn't simply enter "anywhere"; you would have to enter "anywhere street."

Will my computer meet the requirements for the new security feature?

Yes, whatever browsers and equipment you are now using to access Home Banking will work with Enhanced Login Security.

Can Macintosh/Apple users participate in the new security feature?

Yes, all users will be able to use the new security feature with all of the currently supported equipment and browsers.

Will my current password requirements change as a result of the new security feature?

No changes to your password requirements are being made. Currently, your password requires between 4 and 10 characters, at least 1 letter, at least 1 number, and Password cannot contain leading or trailing blanks.

I have already set up challenge questions to be able to reset my password. How will this affect these questions? Will they be different?

We have added new challenge questions and are asking all Home Banking customers to re-select new questions and answers. These questions will be asked for Enhanced Login Security and Password Reset.

What if I forget the answer to my challenge questions?

If you forget the answers to your challenge questions, please call our Home Banking Department at 410-546-1101. Once you are identified, your password will be reset, and you will be prompted to choose and resubmit a new password reset challenge question. Because the same challenge questions are used with both the password reset and Enhanced Login Security features, you will be prompted to re-enroll for Enhanced Login Security as well.

Will deleting cookies at the end of my online banking sessions cause me to have to re-enroll my computer the next time I log on?

You will be required to answer your challenge questions in order to log into Home Banking. Once you have successfully answered your challenge questions, you will need to re-enroll your computer for Enhanced Login Security.

What if I have my computer set to reject cookies?

Home Banking requires the enabling of cookies today.

Will my personal firewalls and/or spyware tools interfere with Enhanced Login Security?

Personal firewalls and/or spyware tools should not affect the installation of Enhanced Login Security.

If I purchase a new computer, will that need to be enrolled? How do I unenroll my old computer?

You will need to enroll your new computer into Enhanced Login Security. Old computers can be unenrolled by logging into Home Banking from the old computer:

Choose "User Options" from the Home Banking menu bar
Choose Enhanced Login Security
Choose "Remove extra security protection from this computer"

Will Enhanced Login Security protect my Online Bill Pay accounts as well?
